About Us

Los Altos School District (LASD) is a high-performing public school district located in the heart of Silicon Valley. We proudly serve approximately 3,500 students across seven elementary schools (grades TK–6) and two junior high schools (grades 7–8). Our schools are situated in the vibrant and supportive communities of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, and Palo Alto, reflecting a strong tradition of educational excellence and community partnership.

  • The LASD Student Experience: Our district-wide vision centers on deeper learning, student agency, authentic inquiry, and real-world application. This approach helps students build purpose, collaboration, and critical thinking skills to succeed in an ever-changing world.

  • The Wheel of Deeper Learning: A unifying framework that guides instructional practices and supports empowered educators and thriving students.

  • STEM & Innovation: All schools offer hands-on opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math through our integrated curriculum and our STEM Labs. Our Computer Science porgram, which serves all TK-8 students, recently won the Hoffman Award, a special recognition from the Santa Clara County School Boards Association. 

  • Wellness & Belonging: From school-based wellness centers to SEL instruction, and inclusive practices, LASD is committed to creating environments where every student feels safe, supported, and seen.

  • Award-Winning Schools: All LASD schools have recently earned the California Distinguished Schools distinction.
