Integrated Support System for Student Success

In the Los Altos School District, we believe every child deserves to learn, thrive, and belong. To ensure this, we build strong systems of support that are woven into everyday classroom experiences and designed to respond to the full range of student needs—academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and beyond.

Support begins in the classroom, where all students engage in high-quality, inclusive instruction designed to meet diverse learning needs. Teachers use data, relationships, and professional collaboration to understand students deeply and adapt instruction in real time—providing additional support, scaffolds, or extensions as needed. These supports are embedded throughout the school day and across all subject areas, ensuring every student has access to rich and challenging learning.

When students need more, we respond early and intentionally. Teachers, specialists, and school teams work together to plan targeted support—whether that’s extra instruction in reading or math, small-group guidance in social-emotional skills, or personalized strategies to improve attendance and engagement. We monitor progress closely and adjust support over time, always aiming to strengthen each student’s sense of capability, connection, and growth.

Our approach is proactive, flexible, and centered on equity. We don’t wait for students to struggle before we act—and we never work in isolation. Instead, we build a shared responsibility for student success across classrooms, schools, families, and systems. Through integrated, responsive supports, we help every student build the skills, confidence, and relationships they need to flourish.
